Essence Magazine has a beautiful photo slideshow of Naomi Sims, one of the first black supermodels in the industry. Sims made the cover of Ladies' Home Journal in 1968, the very first black woman to grace the cover of a "mainstream" women's publication. She died on Saturday at the age of 61 from cancer.
